High quality Swiss made A - Bodies

I’m not sure if this car ever been in France, when it was imported in Italy in 1978 from what I see on the car documents the licence plate was from Zurich (CH) Switzerland

But cars sold in Switzerland don't have the 'SIMCA Tag' ...at least as far I know about the Fastbacks.

I have never seen a Swiss Notchback - only heard/read of them...

These 'Simca Tags' You will normally find only in french Mopars (imported to France):

Chrysler- Simca dealerships were a common sight in Europe in those days:

...in South America it was Dodge - Simca:

...in case of my Demon:

'91' stands for 'Demon' and it was car number 75 built (of 96)

We have done some research in the European mopar forum - alas most official data of AMAG Schinznach are lost - and this are our findings/conclusions so far:

12 = Chrysler Imperial (VIN noch mit 10 Ziffern)
12 = Plymouth 4Door
13 = Plymouth 2Door
32 = Chrysler Valiant 4Door (VIN noch mit 10 Ziffern)
42 = Chrysler Valiant 4Door
50 = Chrysler Valiant Sport Coupe
60 = Dodge Challenger
80 = Dodge Dart 2Door
91 = Dodge Demon
93 = Dodge Dart 4Door

So 12 means Barracuda? And mine is car number 961 of how many?

thanks!

No, I presume '12' was for Import cars generally in these years:

Instead of motor number there was only the type mentioned.

Maybe '989' is the running number for all imported cars - the tag above is from a later (1969) - imported Plymouth.

And this tag is from an 65 Imperial with a lower serial number:

...and in 1970 they had to start with '13' because of running out of digits:

Nice one Marvin,

The more modern Mopars are getting popular now indeed!
Great shape and timeless looks that will endure...

Hope to have one myself one day...

Hi Marvin

This red Demon is awesome
Is it a "Chrysler" logo on the trunk lid instead of a "Dodge" one?

François

Yes, but there were two red ones: The one with Chrysler on the trunk was in mediocre shape - the rear bumper was from a Valiant Sport and it has a 71 front, the other red one was in great shape:

Oh yes, I didn't notice the two different licence plates (Vaud canton vs Argovie canton)

I suppose that the Chrysler logo isn't original and is an owner modification?

Interesting bumper guards, never seen that on a 72 bumper. But as you know, these cars have a lot of weird things on them. I love the recarro seats in mine, very comfortable.

...and extra brake lights in the rear bumper.
Watch out for that pacman ghost on the building behind your car. Looks friendly enough, but you never know.

One thing about it ..too bad they didn't have our beautiful high impact colors
