Hi Y'all,

I have a nice 4 lane HO slot car setup thats permanent mounted on a foldaway platform. What it lacks is the typical stuff you find at a road race track.

Grandstands, spotters tower, consession stands, portapottys etc. I can easily get plastic scale people. But am having a hard time finding the buildings n stuff. Id like them to be realistic looking, and not look like cheap plastic pieces.

Can anybody on here help.

Thanks
Matt

There is various kits for sale on Ebay as pictured below, some of these kits are vintage in the original boxes and for that reason can be pricey.

All these are nice, the vintage aurora, and afx stuff is way pricey, more collector oriented.

I scratch built my own grandstands for my old layout. You can use whats out there or make your own. I sold scratch built HO slot car buildings years ago and still have some stuff left,Made my own more realistic cars and other trackside items, you sound like me ....detail oriented.I'll see if I can post some pictures.

here we go

Wow those are super cool. Nice work. I wish i had the time to scratchbuild some. I used to scratchbuild N scale railroad buildings. I was into N scale big back then. This was also back when i was single, no kids, living home w mom n dad. I liked a lot of HO scale buildings that they showed in the scratchbuild section of model railroader magazine complete with dimensions in HO scale. I used to scale them down to N and make my own. Used a lot of sheet plastic, and solvent adhesive back then.

I dont have the time now to even get out in my shop and work on my cuda, this is why i wanted some easy build kits, that could be glued together and spray painted in mebbe an hour, or prebuilt stuff that i could just plop down on the layout.

I wanted to limit myself to low open top grandstands as my layout folds up against the wall for storage with only 3 inches of clearance. The old revomatic AFX grand stands would be perfect for this. A quick repaint, and some HO people and Viola quickie grandstand.

Matt, check out Royale slot car accessories. They are in Minnesota. Just looked at their site and have just about everything you are looking for.

WOW "DCAspen"....those are grrrrrrrreat! That takes a bunch of talent! Like has been said, I may have had the "talent" and time back a bunch, but not now!...lol

Also try hotslots132.com. They have a good bit of stuff too.

Hotslots132, and royale slot cars both sell only 1/32 scale or "O" Gauge scale. What i run is HO scale or 1/64 th scale. about the size of a hot wheels car.

They have nice stuff including the light poles for nighttime racing too bad they will be too big size wise for my HO layout.

Old thread, but getting back into the slots again. I picked these kits up to build they are photo embossed cardstock. Cut out and glue together. Called photo real by innovative hobby. Might be just the thing for 1/64 scale Will see how nice these turn out before I get more.

Matt there is a mail order catalog called AutoWorld and they are currently making the A/FX tracks and cars try checking on line to find out if they are making the diorama additions for the tracks.

I buy the autoworld car bodies. Run TOMY SRT magnet car chassis. Heres my track. Its a TOMY AFX that I have soldered, and moulded like a 1 piece track. 4 independently wired transformers, wired for 60 ohm 3 wire russkit controllers with dynamic braking. I have some older 1970s AFX 3 gear cars I got hopped up as well. I also have a track mate lap counter that runs windows 95 on an old Dell desktop. It folds up on the wall for storage

Nice setup. I had an old Aurora 4 lane track back in VA. What are you using for track?

TOMY AFX. TOMY bought out Aurora Plastics back in the early 1990s. Theres a place online called www.slotcarcentral.com that bought all the old Aurora surplus. The guy has bunches and bunches of 1970s/1980s 3 gear and 4 gear NOS aurora parts, bodies etc.
