I haven't had to buy any RTV gasket sealer for quite a while. I went to an O'Reily's and depending on which one you wanted, they were like $12-$18 PER TUBE.
Wow. I think I paid $7 last time.

Yeah it's called sticker shock. Everything has gone up crazy, and it ain't never coming back down again.

That money you have set aside to live on, now it's only worth half of what it use to buy.

So prices going up and the value of money going down, that's a double whammy.

They want to keep the average person working, paying taxes, and pinned down.

.

Your first mistake was going to O'reilly's, home of the $40 5-qt jug of Mobil1 that Wal-mart finally marked up to $26.

Good chance they try making up lost revenue by impulse/tangent/convenience/jobber purchases on those types of items,......local parts houses are relying heavily on commercial accounts now for income, RockAuto & PartsGeek etc. are killing walk-in DIY sales so they do what they can.

Yup I don't buy anything that's out across from the counter at any of the grocery store style parts stores. Everything from the front of the counter to the walls in the "showroom" area of them is overpriced. Occasionally I look at their "clearance rack". I hardly go to them for anything that isn't behind the counter... I miss the old car quest as it used to be before being swallowed up by advance. The best parts store around here left, is a Federated.

You can even find oil deals on Amazon cheaper than the stores. That's just stupid. O'Reilly's policy was once that they would price match any brick and mortar store. They're slackin off on that a good bit now.

People need to check prices before buying. Amazon is not always cheaper. We looked at a nice mailbox post at Lowe's. Then checked Amazon. Amazon was almost double the Lowe's price.

Absolutely so. A lot if times it is. Also WalMart offers some killer deals with online orders sometimes, too.

I get mine at farm and fleet, it's been running about $8.something
Not as cheap as it used to be but better than o'wrongleys and the wife's employee 10% helps a little more. (At least her discount covers the tax plus a very wee little bit more, tax here is like 8-1/4%)
I have threads at a few other sites about seam sealer. Talk about something crazy expensive....
I've got some stuff for my camper from the RV store that's about 1/2 the price that is s the same material with a different label.
I have a tube of urethane self leveling caulk type seam sealer that I got from Eastwood,
there's a guy from ramcharger central that put up a pic of a household construction product that's supposed to be again the same thing at 1/3 of the price of seam sealer by the caulking tube, self leveling like the actual labelled product, and like the Actual labelled seam sealer is urethane. I wish I knew for sure that the stuff I saw at Lowe's is actually the same thing as seam sealer ... I have 2 trucks and eventually a 2 dr volare body that needs it
