let me mention this. yes I have used barrel stoves in a shop, but I heat my house with wood. we heat about 1000 sq ft. I use an inexpensive cast iron stove bought at Orsclens cost like $250. it is not a thick $1500 job but does well and its 8 years old. I burns all night, where the barrel stove , I would be hesitant of it going all night unless it was a some really thick good metal barrel. something to consider?
if you want to really get fancy, build an outdoor wood stove and pipe the heat into the shop.... no worry of fire then.....
