I have a 66 Barracuda and have installed a grant wheel. The problem is the horn blows when turning the wheel. I,ve replaced the wheel adapter kit once already, as it hits the turn signal cam bolt. The other issue is the horn contact roller is worn, sloppy and allowing the adapter to hit the roller bracket. any ideas appreciated as I know some have this set up with no issues.

Thanks, Tim

I had this same issue and I had to adjust my steering shaft top bearing.
There is a snap ring that pops off and allows the shaft to sit about 1/8” lower in the column. Pull it apart and check. I had to lower my column by loosing the mounting strap under the column to dash mount and adjust it down. Then the bearing came up a bit and I could replace the snap ring. It was a procedure but worked. Mine is a 1966 Barracuda.
Hope this helps.

Fix: do not turn the steering wheel....

I bought the Grant wheel for my GTO. Did not like the plain, cheap looking horn button that came with it. I bought the billet alum horn button which uses a different horn switch set up.

I installed a Grant wheel in a friend's car once and had a similar problem. I don't think I'd ever consider a Grant wheel.

You need the right sized washers to fit over the steering shaft(between the SnapRing and Your Adapter) a couple of them to space the Grant Adapter OUT away from the Horn Contact.
Your probably Grounding-Out between the Horn Ring and the Blinker-Bolt, That's what happened to me.
I made Two Custom Washers and Fixed it.

You did all that work and didn't replace the old worn out turn signal switch? You should. But be careful which one you get. There's a lot of junk on the market.

Thanks for the replies. I made a washer to space the adapter out1/8", that was before I realized the shaft was 1 1/2 " out from the nap ring and the depth of the adapter is only an inch. Slyleng1 Ill take a look at your suggestion after that maybe a spacer if needed. As mentioned, the horn contact on the TS switch is sloppy. I tried 6Dan but he didnt have any early A switches at the time.

Thanks, Tim

Update, had a friend of mine make a bushing. I also found that horn relay had gone bad. Ive got it back together and working perfectly. Thanks for the help again.

Are there any good ones out there other than NOS? The last two I bought gave my turn signal lever limp dick.

Unfortunately, I'm out of those switches with no ETA on restock, and I refuse to handle the poor-quality junk that's all over the (rest of the) internet.
I don't blame you. I got one that I "thought" was a good one, because you had said before you were out. It works, but it doesn't return 100% of the time. I got it off ebay after you said you had no more. It was a "tick" over 100, so I "figured" it was a good one. It's better than the worn out old one, but not by a lot. lol
