Hi All:

A quick question about Horns.

When I bought my car, the Horn didn't work at all. After some research, and a post about a NYC horns, I managed to get my horn working. Someone along the way disconnected the lead to the horn itself, and the horn relay was missing. I reconnected the horn, replaced the relay and voila! My horn works.

Well.... it works a little too good.

It honks when you press the horn button. It honks when you turn the wheel. It sometimes honks for the hell of it. This upsets me. Any Ideas? My car is a 1974 Valiant with a three spoke wheel and a partial horn ring.

I'm particularly wondering about the three little springs in the steering wheel by the horn contacts. Do those go bad/weak frequently? If so, any sources for them?

I'm sure the answer is right there in the column / button. Don't disconnect the horns, pull the relay back out. The reason is, if the button activates the relay, it will cause a drain even when parked, and may burn up the horn relay
