So my inner child got the Better of me, and one ebay bidding war later, I was the proud owner of a lot of 62 mopar hotwheels cars. My son is going on three, and loves his hotwheels cars. And daddy likes them too! I figure for less than 70 bucks I did good considering you can hardly find them for $1 anymore. Let alone an all mopar collection. They are all carded still by the way. Anyways....couldn't help but notice some duplicates, with minor differences like wheels only...and wondered if before I let my 3 year old crash and bash these, if any are of value? Anyone know any good websites to check these things?
Thanks!

I don't see anything rare. The red Daytonas came with four wheel variations, I think maybe five with a super rare one, but it's been a while. I had about 4000 1/64th Mopars at the peak of my collection, back around 2005 I got out and sold most of them. I also hunted rare cars and sold the non-Mopars, paid for a good portion of the parts on my Duster, but I had a ton of REALLY rare cars, and got out before the market tanked. It was like a mini Barrett Jackson for a time, lol...

There are three variations of wheels on the daytonas alone. so I just wondered if there was a website where you could punch in model numbers and such. Some of these are dated back further than others. Just didnt want to google 62 cars lol

Mopar White Lightnings! Very limited production Johnny Lightnings.
These were my favorites, had over 300 of them.

A few Hot Wheels mixed in also.

Two of my rarest Hot Wheels variations.

Treasure Hunt 'Silver Cuda' no flames variation. Sold for $235

Found this Treasure Hunt Camaro variation in a Walmart and sold for $500, 1of 3 known to exist.

My brother sells carded Johnny Lightnings at swap meets $4 or 3 for $10.

Well i assume like anything else...there are .99 cent models...and $200 models. pending how rare they are and such. i just wanted to see if anyone knew of a website or something where you can enter model numbers and such, before i let a 3 year old play with them, and probably beat them up. i opened the box to find 7 daytonas, all with different rims..so i didn't know if that was relevant or not to value.

I see you have my cousins GTX Johnny Lightning. They stopped us on the way out of Woodley park Spring or Fall fling can't remember.

Yep, that's about right for regular issue stuff. White Lightnings are less than 2% of a production run, usually less than 50 made, some down into the teens. They generally sold from $25-$150 each.

Ray-
Which one? That's pretty cool, did they send him a bunch or a White Lightning of it?

I had over 15k hotwheels before I sold every last one of them. I had some very very rare ones. Every single Mopar vehicle ever made. I was only missing one VHTF 69 Dodge Charger, that at the time was selling for about $900. Only 6 in existance. I offered up to $700 in some of my rare cars for it and the guy passed. You dont get into that hobby to make money. I sold everything for around $7,000.

I didnt see anything rare or HTF in your lot. In my opinion, based off of the convention pricing and what not I would say $.75 each on those models. You maybe able to get $1 or a bit more out of them. Its not until you start getting in the the TH's, and more rare versions that you can make some money.

Wow I didn't know that some of these later Hot Wheels could bring that kind of coin. I have a huge box of them for the 90's and 2000's.
I do have quite a few of the red lines from the late 60's and 70's.

Thanks Johnnymac2k6 for bringing up some cool memories , sorry you didn't luck out with some rare variations.

I used to love hunting those things, there was a lot of diehard competition for them in stores back then, and when you found one it was really a fun rush.

Ditto! I cant believe the amount of hours I put into hunting for these cars. Hell I've even seen a couple of people get into fights over them. I still have to walk the aisle and look at them, I just have more fun spending money on my car now instead of the ones to hang on my wall.

Thanks guys! Maybe I will punch some numbers on ebay when I get board. Like I said I didnt want to get rich. Just didnt want to blemish a car someone was looking for, or something rare. (Especially with the duplicates and differing wheels) Me and the boy will have tons of fun with these! We got him a 6 lane drag strip for Christmas! They are half price for cyber week if anyone is looking for a good Christmas gift for a young car enthusiast!

Speaking of hanging on walls, just one wall in my old apartment. I had over 1000 hung in the main hallway. Johnnymac, if you look close you'll see the red Daytonas in there.

I still have a few on the wall and about ten totes of cars and models in the garage, and I buy M2 cars sometimes to display loose on haulers in front of the tv. Old habits die hard, lol....
