hey guys
im looking at a converter from a 73 340/727 challenger

is there a surefire way to identify if this was a factory high stall or not?

or is there any chance all of them mounted in the 340/727 combo were (or weren't) high stalls?

any markings I should look for?

It will have "HI STALL" stamped on it somewhere with impression stamping.

When I took my 318-727 apart to replace the 318 to 360 I found a high stall sticker on the convertor no clue what factory stall it is,but was surprise to see it. I keap that unite, used a B&M flex plate.

Not really. I have seen some large and small diameters that were stamped Hi Stall, so I don't think the body size is important.

As a general rule, the stock low stall was around 1500-1700 and the Hi Stall was about 1K RPM higher.

Pat Blais is an excellent source as well as Precision of New Hampton.

i have a '73 cast crank 340/727 converter that is untested but appears to be a clean unit.
What stall would it be?
