I have a 68 Dart that I bought as a project. It was a 6-cly car originally. Since it doees not have any drive train, I'm not sure what engines have been in it over the years. How can I tell the difference between a 6-cyl K-frame, vs a small-block K-frame, or a big-block K-frame? Is there anything special to look for, or do you have to go by a part number? If you have to go by number, what are the numbers for the various K-frames, so that I can look for the correct one? Thanks.

I do not know how to ID a BB k-member but for the SB and /6 k-members if you measure the outside width of the frame stands the SB is approx. 20" across and the /6 is approx 22 1/4" across.

The driver side mount was moved toward the front of the block on the BB K frames. There's a good pic in the book "Chrysler Performance Upgrades" by Frank Adkins. Somebody here recommended the book to me & it's well worth having. Lots of info.
