I am looking for folks with 63-66 A-body tubular k frames and how they are working for them and what brand they are using.
I have an older Magnum force unit and it limits the tire size on the front. I believe it was probably for a 67-72 A-body k frame because I do not think anyone was making a K frame for the older A-bodies {63-66} 10 years ago when this was likely put on my car. I want to run 26" tires (or taller) and it gives a rub to the front fender. What size tires are people getting under the front with the K frame they are using?? Any recommendations for a good supplier based on actual use on the 63- 66 cars would be spectacular.

I bought AJE Very Light weight . It was already in a car with an LS I bought, I would not recommend this for any street or road coarse driving. Drag race only and don't let it land hard.

I watched all these suspensions as they were designed over the years. RMK was the first in our area, Passion transmission moved into their building.
Then magnum force, strong but very Heavy, And QA-1 ? no experience with one, My preference for a multi purpose car and engine would be HDK. That is just my opinion

if you are only looking for additional tire clearance, you may see what brake package you are running. The older Wilwood (and other brands) used a hub that pushed the hub outward an extra 3/4" per side.

regardless how far you pull the hub in, my experience is it is hard to get a 26" diameter tire in the early A bodies without at least a small fender lower lip modification.

I (HDK) have replaced many early Magnun Force conversions mostly because they bump steered so bad and road hard / rough.

One of the strongest designs and the best quality which is easily seen. I never heard one complaint from anyone. Thanks for your help with these old A-bodies.

I've been doing things with my HDK Denny never imagined it would do and it's been flawless.

I do think a 26" tire will be too tall for an early A. If you use Denny's kit, you will have the ability to shorten the control arms to pull the tire into avoid contact with the wheel lip, but then you may run into problems with the tire hitting the inner fender well. That tall tire may also run into the bottoms of the fender when turning. Not worth the trouble in my opinion. This is a 265/35-18 on a 18x9+35 wheel. I have tons of room with the HDK. I'll step up to a 275/35 when this tire wears out.

Would this be the brakes you are referring to?

the approx 3/4" additional thickness of the older version is on the backside of the hub behind what you have pictured. That looks like the older version because the caliper bracket appears mounted on the outside of the spindle.

What would you suggest for new brakes that could work and maybe utilize these calipers?

looks like Magnum Farce. First I would confirm you have the Wilwood older / wider version. With Wilwoods extremely high component prices, it would be cheaper in the long run to buy a new complete package and sell what you have now complete. Somebody will buy them.

I have both old and new hubs. If I get a chance today I will snap a picture of both and show you what exactly to look for.

Old hub is #FR-278-7279
New hub #HY-270-10442

Mine clear safely by a small margin , this wheel company is no longer in business, owner died .. I gained just enough for it to look right , guess I know what I'm doing

Wilwood Disc Brakes this is the hub for 11" rotor, other part # (HY-270-10442 is for a 12" rotor

looks like there is .420 difference narrower on the 11252 hub vs the one you have. I am not sure what the length of your control arms are, the HDK arms are not only adjustable, but start out almost an inch shorter than RMS or Qa1.

another option (cough, cough) you could buy the basic HDK minus the upper shock mount / support hoops @ $3595 and use the brakes, rack and pinion, and possibly coil overs / springs you currently have.

The adjustment on the back side. Is there danger putting a spacer there to move the lower arm back? I don't know if the front will have enough adjustment once I get the spacers between heim and bolt.

Do you pick up a total of an inch. 1/2 " on each side with your k frame? The new hub would give me another .420 or approximately 3/8" more to each side than what I got now. Do you think I would pick up the 1" from the k frame I have now to your current k frame?
Do you think your k frame would have more adjustability to clearance the 26" tires than what I have now?

The .420 per side is a given, but to tell you exactly how much farther the HDK adds, I need more data, but from previous experience, the HDK is and can be adjusted narrower.

Measured with the hub at ride height, how far out is your hub with your current components?
