Are you (and or the torque converter guys) guys that good you nail the first selection and never change them?
Seems to me the race guys would be cycling through these as well as performance guys trying to find the magic ticket? And not to say a gear change or cam change never happens as well!

I am asking because I am curious and also will be looking at a converter change next after my front end rebuild.

I usually see a lot more on Facebook marketplace than on here. Once you get a good torque converter technician working with you, I think most people find it’s easier to pull a converter and send them back for a rework if they need the stall and flash adjusted.

To get the correct torque convertor for you exact application, you need to talk to the torque convertor manufacturer and have all of your cars information ready, like exact engine build specs, vehicle weight, gear ratio, tire diameter etc.. more informatioon equals better results.
Or just take a chance and buy one from somebody.
There is a science to convertors. No such thing as a definite stall speed.
You could put the same convertor in 3 different cars and get 3 different stall speeds.

The reason you don't see them for sale is. Who would buy a used converter for a new trans unless you know who is selling it and trust them. When it comes to a used torque converter you never know whats inside.

I once bought a trans and dumped the converter to look at the fluid. It was bright red and I trusted the man. trans was empty. After getting the trans home and pulling the pan the fluid in the bottom was brown with metal in it. The seller emptied the converter and pored fresh fluid in it.

A dirty converter will destroy a trans.
