I bought Cometic's for my 273 a few years ago. I'd have to dig out receipts to look, but I am 99% sure they were 4.040 x .028. The gasket set in the picture above looks like McCord gaskets I used to use back in the day.
i know that some folks have had issues with them leaking and the coating that them come with is often damaged when taken out of the packaging (think frosting on a cupcake). What about Mr Gasket's 1121G's?
I used them on my 273 build and they worked great. That was 14 years ago. Hard to believe. What about Mr Gasket's 1121G's?
I used them (because I had them) but They were Waaayy to big! 4.160 if I rememberWhat about Mr Gasket's 1121G's?
That's not the Block but rather the Inside of the Bearing Shell... They have a Protective Coating on them. The tear down continues....
One of the cam bearings worn through to the block. Fortunately, it doesn't look like in wore away at the block.
Cam bearing surface looks okay with no visible damage.
What would cause one cam bearing to wear through like this?
I measured the old head gasket; it came out to be .0327" at the compressed fire ring area and .0391" at the non-compressed area.
The original timing chain had almost an inch of deflection
Thanks for the continued comments

Infrequent Oil Change Practices, Normal Wear, High-Speed Harmonics? What causes this king of wear?
age, wear, mileage, acidic oil. What causes this king of wear?
Also lack of oil changes that allow recirculasion of nasty combustion byproducts. Also possible is a slightly bent camshaft.age, wear, mileage, acidic oil.
pretty typical for older motor with mileage on it.
