hi guys,
i have a slant six with headers and dual exhaust, but i want to get the sweetest possible sound from the mufflers and exhaust pipes i use. any suggestions? thanks.

you said you have headers... who's are they? hookers/cliffords or some others??

do they look like this? these are hookers

if i were you i would get reducers from 2.5"(from the collector) to 2.25 pipes, then merge them into a single 2.5"

or go dual 2.25's but keep them near each other... i.e. like a ta exit or something... slants have a weird sound if you only hear one set of pipes...

this is when i had a dynomax true flow x muffller dual 2.25 in and out... this setup will be plenty for just about any build you will do... unless you start making a serous street/strip motor

I have shorter style headers. They are rusted and not very good looking so I'm not sure about who makes them. They go into two pipes and each muffler appears to be very mild. At least that's how they sound. Thanks for the help.

i like the look of your hooker headers more, but i'll try these cliffords out first i guess. thanks.

Here are some Cliffords with 2.5 duals no special muffler see attached pic.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but does Hooker even make headers for the slant anymore?

BTW, that Valiant is NICE!!!

do the hooker headers hit anything like the steering box or are they a perfect fit? just wondering if i'll have to move or fab anything? thanks.

if you have the cliffords run them... makes no sense to change...

but yes they are a great fit and they never hit the ground... and i have my car nose down

nice! thanks for the help man. i'll send pics when i'm done putting the new motor and trans in my car. sometime this week i hope.

you think my exhaust will sound better with a y pipe into one muffler or the dual exhaust into two seperate ones? thanks.

this is a daily driver car not a weekend cruiser. i don't want to watch my fuel gauge go down as i sit at the stop light. thanks anyways. this is slant six talk not V8.
