How do I tell the difference between an 8 1/4 and an 8 3/4?

I'm not sure what I got under my Barracuda, and I'd like to know.

The 8 3/4 diff has no rear bolts,just a smooth round cover and the gears come out the front of the diff,Mrmopartech

Not really. I figured they would put something bigger than that behind a V-8. Now I'm not really sure WHAT I have.

If that's the original rear end it's probably a 71/4". No 81/4" available in that year.
