how do you get permission to make a clone?

how do you get permission to make a clone car? not like turning one model into another, but turning a stock 69 cuda into a sox&martin hemi cuda?

do i need permission or can i just do it?

I don't think you need permission. But I wouldn't take it to the bank. It might be one of those things that depends on if they put a trade mark or such on the car before, copyright stuff. But you could probably get away with making enough small changes as to make it a Tribute car. Old car looks with newer safety equipment etc.. Just don't ever try and put it off as an Original or a few people will have your skin, and I wouldn't blame them either.

Building a clone is not a problem building something like a S&M 'cuda WOULD be, as the paint scheme is copyrighted and that's where you'll get in trouble. If it were me, I'd run it by an attorney or contact whomever's car you want to copy & get written permission..........
