how do you watch your fav. TV prgms without cable

Any of you watch your favorite TV programs without cable ??? And if so how are you doing it ? what other equipment is needed besides the internet ??? Also what do you use to record your shows when your not there ?

Tired of paying outrageous prices to watch shows that don't come on a basic pkg. these are some of the channels we watch, HGTV,SPEED,HISTORY,LIFE,ANIMAL PLANET,A&E
