How many of you run an LD340

-
Not yet, but the plan is........

Modified 600 Carter on top of the LD340 with a set of 1.88/1.60 pocket ported gasket matched 308 heads on top of a zero decked 360 with Hooker super comps exiting the gas.
727, 3.55 9-1/4 w/245/60/15's out back for the 79 Dodge Magnum.

How about a cam for some power and mileage. Torque a consideration in a 3800+lbs car.

(Oh, I do have a 750 cfm.)

cool, have you looked at the Engle K-54 hyd .470 lift 270*adv 214*@.050 112cl? or .504 272* adv 224* @.050 110cl? I'm thinking the 1st one, it'll still pull rpm well.

Lunati 60401 214/220 on 112 LSA .454/.475 lift. ton's o torque and should get you some good mileage if you can keep your foot out of it. Will rev to 5k in a 360.

I run a LD-340 with a 600 Edelbrock on a 360 with 2.02 J heads and a Hughes Cam HEH2328AL, 223/228 @.050 and .506/.524 lift installed @ 104 degrees. Frank Lupo 2400 converter, 3.23 Sg in a 69 Dart. The Ld-340 really woke this thing up, I had a Performer intake on it before

The other was in my Scamp.

I'd like to see how many here on this site run an LD340 manifold and what engine & combo.

I have an LD 340 on my 408, I used it because it gives the motor a "retro" look and when you paint it engine color it appears stock. Plus I already owned it. Here are the numbers from the dyno:

443 HP @ 5800 rpm
460 Ft lbs Torq @ 4100 rpm

Here's the specs on the engine build:

Camshaft - Hydraulic Roller (Cam Motion)
Duration Intake: 242
Duration Exhaust: 248
Lift Intake: 570
Lift Exhaust: 562
Lobe Separation: 110
Centerline (Installed): 105.5

Valve Springs: Comp Cams (994-16)

Crankshaft, Cast (Eagle) Internally Balanced Stroke 4.000
Pistons (Wiseco) PN: WISPT036H3
Bore: 4.030
Dish: 20cc
Compression Ratio: 9.9:1

Iron heads; casting #4448308
Combustion Chamber Volume: 65cc; 2.02" Intake; 1.60" Exhaust

Flow Numbers
Intake Exhaust
0.100 Lift 64 50
0.200 Lift 132 98
0.300 Lift 184 136
0.400 Lift 226 175
0.500 Lift 254 189
0.600 Lift 247 196

Carburetor (Pro Systems Pro Series - XE)
Holley 4150 HP Main Body
Front Jets 78
Accelerator Pump 50 cc
Rear Jets 88

Kevco Oil Pan with Stock Oil Pump

I ran Flow Tech headers on Dyno for break in. Using TTI's in the Demon.

I haven't look at a Engle in a long time.

Lunati 60401 214/220 on 112 LSA .454/.475 lift. ton's o torque and should get you some good mileage if you can keep your foot out of it. Will rev to 5k in a 360.
I seen this one and it is very similar to the Crane I'm runningin the teen now. 216 - 228 / .454/.480 on a 112. I have entertained the thought.

360, kb107, j heads, LD340, 750DP, XE268H, msd ignition, dougs headers, 2500 verter, 2.76 gears 7.25 peglegger. 14.21 @ 104.50 in las vegas. Car gets 20+ mpg on the highway at 65mph.
If I can get a O.D. tranny with a .69 OD gear, as a normal MoPar tranny has, the final ratio would be 2.4495. I'd be thrilled with 20 mpg's.

Currently, the big issue is the compresion ratio and the octane that wll be used in conjunction with cam choice. While I don't want a slouch....and who among us does....some reasonable gas mileage would be nice. Real nice. But would rather not at 93 ocatane as a must or don't drive it.

I've run one for the past 20 years on my 66. First it was on a heated up 318, and for the past 15 years it has been on my 360. Both combos were the LD340 and the same Carter 625 AFB. Great manifold and a great street carb.

I have one on my Barracuda. 360 with 9 1/4 to one KBs a Comp cam that is a copy of the 68 340 manual trans cam. Stock heads with a eddy 4615s carb and 68 340 exhaust manifolds with 2 1/2 inch out the back. I have a 3.21 8 and1/4 in the rear, and over the fourth I took it on a 600 mile trip getting 18-20 mpg at 65 mph.

For fun I'm running an LD on my 410 strok'r motor.

The combo
360 block,deck'd,line honed,studded,torque plate etc..
.040 KB356 9.9 comp, might swap thin head gaskets later.
Ohio Nodular 4'' crank
H-beams arp 2000 bolts
Hastings moly rings
Engle solid .573 284*dur 252*@ .050 110cl

Cylinder heads
915 J heads w/2.02 1.60 11/32 under cut stem valves.
ported by me and flowed by proair 270/[email protected] lift
since then I've back cut the valves, so up with the flow #'s.
still deciding on the carburetor.

It's all going in a 3190lb a body w/4 spd so with the ld it outta be break neck!

Do you guy's think the LD340 is better than a Eddie RPM? Is it shorter than a RPM?I am having rubbing issues with my 340 with a RPM and my hood insulation and a stock air cleaner.

I've got one on my 72 Demon. Bought the car already set up for 1/8th mile. Pretty much a mystery car as far as internals but it has a 318 with some Wiseco pistons, I-dunno-what-type Comp Cam, 850 Holley #4781 on top of the LD,Hookers, electric water pump, 904 reverse manual v.b. w/ 3500 stall, 8 3/4 w 4.56's, 9" slicks, 8 point cage. Just fixed the brakes and I hope to take her on a shake-down run to Old Dominion Speedway this Wed. to see what she's got. With the fancy paint and roll cage it better not be a turd!

Answers in order; No, Yes.
