I am about to put some new parts on my 360 and was curious as too what my horsepower gain will be and what the final number would be. Right now it is an LA 360
eddie 600 carb.
eddie torker 340 intake
hooker headers
MP .484 cam
MP lifters

I am putting a PRM intake on it with a holley 750 dp and possibly some flat top pistons. I am hoping for about a 50 hp gain. Is that realistic, and what would my final numbers be?

Depends what year your 360 is, and the compression ratio currently. Also depends on what the compression ratio will be after the new pistons. If you are going from a set of smog pistons at 8.0:1 to 9.5:1, You will definately see a large increase.

my 340 makes 413 tq 397 hp , 360 should make a bit more . Mine was rebuilt to stock specs with mahle 10:.5 pistons a bit of head work and a 274 comp cam ., headers and a holley 670 avenger .

There is 2 ways to find out for certain......and they both involve words that start with a "D".........

X2.......How long will it take him to figure that out? :D... Hint: Dy & Dr.

Seriously, Not sure on the max. power, but the average over your rpm range will make the biggest difference, not peak power gain. The RPM over the Torker will surely give you gains overall.

I built a 360 Magnum very close in specs to a 360/380 crate, I have read where they will actually produce close to 400 with headers and a 750 Holley.. My cam is just a bit less on the duration and overlap than the 360/380 and I have a early 340 and an R/T magnum exhaust manifold at 2 1/8 outlet which flows almost as much as the 340 one. I am subtracting 20 hp for the manifolds over the headers and 10 hp on the cam. So..I figure about 360-370 plus the 150 shot of nitrous. Total just over 500 hp and about 20 percent for drive line loss. In my 3400 lb Dart(with me in it) with just over 400 at the rear wheels, I am HOPING for high 11's which should be enough to spank most of the newer Vettes/Camaros/Stangs. I realize that with this years model's I might fall a little short. LOL

forced induction or n/a? my ''340'' 416 is making a little over 1100hp/1050tq flywheel (935 whp/895wtq) with 15#s of boost @ 6700 rpm... my 340 before the turbo made 440 whp/473 wtq @ 6400rpm. both engines power #'s were with 93 oct pump gas.

Sorry for the hi jack......did you use a factory block after the explosion of the first one?

With the 8.6:1 cr 'powerhouse' smallblock in my Dart I don't think one can speak of 'horse' power yet. More like DonkeyPower... :D

Doogie- let me know what you end up with, both in hp and in parts used.

I HAVE to do a rebuild on my internally stock 200,000 mile 1978 360. My cam blew its tires and is now running a little flat- popping up through the carb. Outside of engine, I have a factory 340 intake, 600 eddy, and headers-hedman I think.

I want to get 9.0-9.5 pistons, bore it out about .030, and either a crane energizer 272 H10, H-272-2, or an edelbrock performer rpm #7177. Also running a 904 trans and 3:23 rear with 15" ralleys on back running a 60 series tire.

After this setup, I am hoping to get my 750cfm TQ carb back on and down the road the eddy intake and farther down the road the eddy 2.02 alum heads.

I keep going back and forth for nitrous, but maybe now leaning away from the funny gas.

I had a 360 in my other duster with 8.8 pistons, a crane energizer 272 H10, bored .030 over, same stock 340 intake I am using now, and same headers, but had my 750 TQ on it. That carb threw ya in the seat with this setup-not real hard, but there wasnt a stang in town that could get me. Car was a 75 Duster that was not lightened-all stock interior. Same 904 and 3:23 gears as above-from same car, only then I had 14" ralleys with 60's for its feet.

HP-who knows. Broke my 120mph speedo twice on the high speed runs, and I can sit there all day and spin tires when wet. When dry out- a chirp was about it and I was gone.

yup. cam/rod broke the block 2 years after i boosted the 340. i knew it was a ticking time bomb but it was a great engine!
