I have someone who wants to buy my old rear end that I swapped out of my '75 duster. It will be for a /6 in a 70's d-100. I don't want to sell anything if I don't think it wil work in his application...anyone know what would be in the d-100 now ?

Thanks
ian.

Won't last long at all in a truck. The truck probably has a 8-3/4 or 9-1/4. A Duster's rearend will be way to narrow for a truck anyway.

If he's gonna beat the heck out of it, It may fail. Under normal use it'll last just fine Unless it's already 1/2 wiped out and making whining noises. So it's not as good as an 8.25 or 8.75. They still went 100,000 miles over and over again year after year. JMO

He might need to lengthen the driveshaft. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

Under normal use, in stock slant 6 cars they had failure rates. What's that tell you?

Around here most of the 7 1/4 s are used up they use them for garden tractors built up for pulling at the local fair grounds they seem to be the favorite and work well.

Very weak rear. I heard they do get significantly stronger when equiped with sure grip?
