Say you had the same 360 motor ,headers - 4 barrel- intake- cam- etc. One engine had stock compression like 8:5 , and the other had 10:5. How much of a hp difference do you think it would make.

About 10 to 15 % assuming everything else is exactly equal. It depends a lot on the cam too. If the cam is in the 230+ degree @ .050 range it'll run like crap with 8.5 but run great at 10.5 with an increase in power well over 15%. If it's its a short duration cam (under 212 degrees), it may ping itself to death with no power increase.

This is a very difficult question to answer without some details or what it really is you're trying to do. Rule of thumb is 7% for every full point of compression.

Agree very tuff to solve but most times you can say 20-30hp for 2 points all things = on the engines. But once the cam is more than stock in the duraction valve overlap department you must have more static compression unless it is a very high rpm engine.

3 -4 % on a lowly stock engine. Percentages climb with mods. That's also why cam manufactures recomend higher comp. ratios along with a few other reasons that are cam related. But thats another story. It deals with overlap of valves and pressure bleeding off.
