How much power on SIR rods?

-
MRL you are right in the fact that they aren't the right rod for the app. that wasn't the question. I knew in fact that they aren't the "best choice" but it's what I already have. I mainly wanted to see if anyone had seen any failure on these rods with high HP motors. I see at least 2 others running similar combo's without failure. I know there is no one in there right mind that's going to tell me yes your rods meet or exceed your needs if you where to run 7K+ and you intend on getting 300 passes and the motor will be fine. I do thank you guys for your input and I do agree with all the things you said MRL but I think you took the question the wrong way. I didn't ask if I where going to build a motor what should I use question? If I where building a motor from the bottom up and I will but not this year I would use an H beam rod intended for that type of stress.

You asked if your combo is to much power for your bottom end. I say yes, you are really pushing the limits of a factory cast IRON crank and SIR rods. But if you have to use what you got to get you by, then use what you got. I just hope it does not blow and ruin your block, heads and anything else. Thats all. You might get lucky, like the other 2 guys.

Good luck with the combo and let us know how it goes!

Oh I'll let you know how it goes for sure. I'm still putting the car back together. I have to basically rebuild my car because Katrina had it's way with it. It's been many years to get back on my feet and I have an itch to go racing again. And as far as everyone sending me $20 I'm down for that:) And I am glad you think it will make that much power I really didn't think it would. I'm thinking high 10's because I'm not gonna rev it that hard. My car use to go thru the lights @ 7K with a 360 with 28" tire. I now run a 31" tire. I gues it will be like a built in rev limiter.....

If I'm thinking correctly and MRL brought it up the rods aren't going to be the big issue it's the rod bolts that are gonna harm the thing. I've never been a fan of eagle rods or cranks, mostly because they are made out of cheap chinese forgings. I'd take a manley rod any day of the week over an eagle rod.

yes..the scats are basically the same price...but if you read his question...you will see that he has a used short block with the eagle rods all ready in it....

so everyone who is voting for the scat rods...send him 20 bucks so he can buy them...lol

That right there is the funny pun of the day!! haaa:D
