how much to ask for X heads?

I hope this is in the right place,But i have a set of erly 68 X heads(no x betwen spark plug)2531894-D. They have the x on the under side.I have listed the heads for sale in nc for $300.Am i asking to much for the heads?

I hade a guy come out today to look at them and he told me that 2 of the ex valves had sunk up in the seat.and that thay were only worth $100

other than not having hardend valve seats the heads are perfiect!

Is he tring to get the best of me? im a honest person and would like to ask the honest price for them

I think your asking price is fair,I just picked up a pair for $150(I knew the guy)and he was going on vacation.I still had to have them resurfaced.$300 is a good price.Good Luck with sale.

I picked up a pair of bare heads for $75.00 but probably will have over $500.00 in them by the time I have exh. valve seats, valves and valvetrain installed.

Decent bare castings are worth 100.00 Usable used heads are 300 easy.
The difference is in their condition. At 40 years old the majority of those heads heve been reworked before and have good used valves and hardened seats.
If yours are all original and the valves have recieded into the heads and worn razor sharp on the edges, you may as well call them bare heads.

$300. is not bad for assembled X heads.

I paid $200.00 for mine about 6 years ago. They had good valves and springs already installed. I put another $227.00 into them to have the hardened valve seats and new valve guides installed as well as a valve job done, decked 10 thousandths and reassembly. I have $427.00 in them already and I am thinking about having them ported so the total is bound to rise!
