How pitted is too pitted?

Brakes came off a '73 A-Body and was told that they were fully functional but I decided to just rebuild them now to avoid any future problems. As I was replacing the pistons I noticed that one of the calipers had been repaired in the past as the piston was not original (Stamped Ford on the bottom) and the inside of the caliper appears to have been sanded down lightly previously. Adding on, the piston itself has small scratches showing how it had been rubbing to some degree within the caliper. I know the pictures aren't that great but I just want to know if I should just slap everything together, try to bore them out a little bit, or just get re-manufactured set from one of the big auto parts stores? There don't appear to be any noticeable burrs when I rub my fingers on the pitted areas.

I would get the reman brakes, they are not that expensive anymore, and as they say, better safe than sorry.

Have you ever taken a reman caliper apart, They are not like new and might be worse than that. I bead them and paint then bake them then buy a cheap reman and take them apart and put all the parts in my casting to keep them correct and original, they will have new pistons and will be cheaper than buying all the parts separately.

The sealing surface is on the piston. It can look like the moon in there, the fluid won't care. The piston surface should be perfect.

I'm not sure those are rust pits but might be casting defects. But like Inertia said the sealing surface is the piston and as long as that is new or clean and the seal is new or clean you should be good to go.

Put them together and run them. Just make sure the pistons are OK and you'll be fine.

Sorry it took so long for me to reply, I was just having way too much fun with finals this semester .. anyways, thank you to everyone who responded, I really appreciate the help. For the record, pretty much everything that could be replaced (pistons, seals, hoses etc.) around the calipers is getting replaced, and I'm using 11.75" rotors from a '78 cordoba so im trying not to skimp on anything while still keeping it somewhat "original" to make replacement parts easier to find. I hope to have these in by the end of next week so I can go break some other parts on my dart
