Did you try a small drill bit on it? Just enough to fit inside the pin, it's worked for me before. Just make sure you drill straight through the center so you don't damage the shaft. If you damage it you will have to use a larger roll pin and drill the hole in the new handle to work. Usually they come out with a hammer and drift though.
