how to check, coil, volts reg, alt, ect

any one have some guides on how to check these components on my car, its got a somewhat weak spark, gots fuel and compression. new coil (found how to test it now), got a old volts reg on her now, hwo can i check to see what the problem is the ecu box is new, can i check that? :-|

alternator has to be spinning to test its output.

the ecu should be setup like this, blk/ylw to coil-, grn not used, blue/ylw to 12v side of ballast, the other 2 go to dist. check to see that the box is grounded well.
