I just picked up a '66 Dart hardtop 270/225/auto. I was aiming for maximum 60's frump, but this is is awfully stylish. The mid 60's are my favorite time for auto design. Love the slab sides. I am new to Mopar, but my other current vehicle is a 66 beetle brought back from the brink after it sat in a field for 30 years. I also did a 68 bronco with a 302 and 3 on the tree a long time ago. Back before they got so flipping fashionable. Honestly I would have gotten another old beetle, but those are so much more expensive. My lovely old basket case dart was 1/3 of what i could get a beetle for. At least one that didn't have the heater channels dragging on the ground. Speaking of heaters, I live in central New York State, so I also look forward to a car with some heat.
Anyway, despite all the advice saying to avoid such things, my darts front suspension is in pieces. The torsion bars are long gone. the engine and a push button 727 are sitting in the garage, and some hotshot teen thought to put a ford 9" in the back. I have a 7 1/4 to replace that with. I haven't even vacuumed out the mouse turds and already I love this thing.
I plan to get this fellah running and back on the road. Then, a rolling restoration. A manual transmission is a must. I am allergic to autos. Also, where it has mostly surface rust, I want to treat it so the ridiculous amount of salt they use all winter won't make it dissolve.

So, any advice for a new mopar owner would be appreciated. Also, good sources of used parts.

Thanks, and HI

Welcome from Kansas. NICE choice. 66 Dart 2 door HT. Lots of potential.
Allergic to autos?? LOL I haven't heard that one before. My 69 Barracuda had an Automatic when I first bought it. I drove it like that for about 5 years before I converted it to a 4 speed. It is not an easy task, but if you are a decent mechanic, you can do it. Lots of experience on this site.
