Has anybody tried the HP 70 or hp90 swap into there a body? I wanted to know what kind of electrical work needed to be done to do the conversion.

I'm assuming were talking the 8 speed auto that are put in the Charger/Challenger? If so chances are your going to need some sort of aftermarket controller at bare minimum.

The HP70 and HP90 are the 8spd auto transmissions that are in the new Dodge trucks and cars since 2014 for trucks 2015 for cars. ( the HP70 comes behind the 5.7 and 6.4 and the HP90 comes behind the 6.2 supercharged engines) From what I have heard there is two outfits that are making stand alone computers and wiring harnesses to run these transmissions, you will have to search the internet for them ( I can't remember the names of the two companies, sorry)

There are at least two build threads with that swap on here. @Dantra and @4.7Light.

Plus there a is a large thread discussing it.

Plug in "8HP", "8HP70" and/or "8HP90" into the search option at the top right and drink from the firehose.

There are a handful of controllers available on the marketplace to support this trans now. You can expect to pay about the same amount as an aftermarket EFI system just to control the 8HP, but it’s an awesome trans.

- Sound German Engineering
- Turbolamik
- MaxxECU
- FuelTech
- CANTCU

I’ve been following development in this area for a year or so and I gather that TurboLamik offers the most complete control and feature set. MaxxECU’s offering is interesting also because it is a full on EFI and 8hp controller in a single package.

I like the Turbolamik option because it can emulate a clutch. Not sure how much I would actually use that option though.

Isn't the MaxxECU one the guys swapped an 8HP into an S550 or something?

Yep. You’re right on both accounts. The Turbolamik also does Transbrake. Not sure about the others.

Russell Drake can do a trans brake as well. I like the sound German Automotive controller because I didn't have to open the transmission. Out of the box it works amazing and his support is 2nd to none. My Dart Sport with this transmission is terrifying fast. I have squared off with some expensive European cars AMG and others and embarrassed them. So much I limit driving the car now as I can't help myself hahaha.

Sounds like it was a worthwhile swap
