I Am Thinking It Might Be About Time To Start Downsizing My Possessions

-
Speaking of college materials although I never went, the house I bought 12 years ago came furnished with a plethora of items including notes etc. from 50's college courses.
Anybody interested in old road maps from 60's ? Lol
Old timer down the road from where I grew up had pre 1940s maps. Pretty cool. He had a lot of neat stuff set up in display. But man that’s just a lot of stuff to babysit lol.

For me I love to meet up with the guys that have all the cool stuff. It’s neat. We all have friends who have cool stuff. And or we are that guy. But it’s a lot to take care of.

I always thought it would be pretty cool to put out a book with roadmaps of the same city, but from different years. And then “stage” and align the maps such that someone could thumb through the book and see the changes “live”, as it were. Or at least as they occurred.

At least I think it would be cool to see this….

Just remember the bigger the garage (space) you have, the more you need.
The more you want, the more you get.
All of a sudden you hit around 70 ish, you wake up WTF. Where did I get this stuff from ?
Ask me how I know

i try and upgrade my junk (stuff) every 10 years or so sell off and make room for new
started with a 2 car garge...moved to one with a three car
then moved to a 2 car with a 20x40 ,then built a 30x50
then bought a shop then added another storage bay will it ever end.....i guess when god says so

I operate out of a 36' x 48' pole building with a nice concrete floor and have several cars over at a friends 47,000 sq. ft. warehouse. Another friend of mine built a 50' x 70' clear span

building about 20-years ago with 4-15' tall garage doors so you could drive a semi through the 50 ft. I've wanted that building ever since, but now it's time to scale down.

I'll never get it all done at the rate I work at things because I try to make everything to perfect. What a curse that is.

Looks like a great rain free week ahead, so the serious cleaning can begin.

Tom

There is perfectionism and then there is anal!!! Like my old bud said one day " I wet sand the primer till it is SO smooth, I have to go back and scuff it so my topcoat will actually stickl!!!!" :BangHead:

I can relate, I am currently in the middle of downsizing from a 2400 square-foot house with a 750 square-foot garage and 100 square-foot storage building in Dallas to a 1400 sq ft house with a 500 square-foot garage and no storage shed…..to complicate this I’m moving from Dallas, Texas to Tulsa Oklahoma. I have gone from three cars and six motorcycles to two cars and two motorcycles, along with selling a bunch of stuff that I haven’t used in years.
I will be 73 in August and was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2017, it’s not getting easier

^^^^^Getting older and especially with health issues is never easy. A lot of the hard part is admitting we are not able top do all we used to could do, especially if we used to could accomplish a lot.
I am down from 4 classics to one and old car hunting withdrawal is tough! Bunch of parts is next. Also, FSM, how to books, hopefully there are still guys out there that do not want it all on a damn puter disc! It will provide some $ to pay the neighbor shade tree mechanic to do the front end that would be such a struggle for me to get down. We all said and done, I will be done to just spare small parts for my one remaining old car! OK.... so maybe just one spare engine core. :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead:

an old style parts store closed near us about two years ago. a friend told me about the place so I stopped by. long story short, I helped with the clean out. IT took all I could muster, not to take all the catalogs and manuals that went into the walk-in dumpster home. now I'm about at that point and hope all that literature doesn't end up shredded.

For me I have that "diamond in the rough " eye what people see as a piece of poop I'm thinking "it can be brought back" but yes getting too old and things aren't really affordable any more as far as parts resto supplies etc. If I bought another roller I think Id just drag race it with gutted interior etc. maybe shoot a primer or single stage on the body

you will probably like Tulsa , its too busy for me tho. the street layout is better than most anywhere I`ve ever been ! east ave. run north and south , numbered streets run east and west
almost everywhere is too busy for me !
78 and hanging in there ...

Yes, we have been to Tulsa many times. Tulsa has 450,000 people…Dallas has 1.2 million….. traffic in Tulsa is nonexistent compared to here…..the cost of living is much less and it has closer to four seasons than we do.
