I just can't slant .....

-
I hadn't either until he showed me. I have had small blocks in and out of D series trucks a dozen times, but never noticed the dimples to knock out until he showed me. It's the hole where the stud that pokes out the bottom of the rubber biscuit goes thru. I've got an 88 long bed I'm gonna swap from a 318 TBI to a 5.9 Magnum MPFI, so I shouldn't have to move anything there.

That's certainly interesting. I'd have THOUGHT that any of the 73-92 mount brackets and mounts would have worked.....but I know next to nothing.

@318willrun I'll be happy to wave the slant flag for you if you can't. I have a twin truck to yours, an 82 D150, slant with an 833OD. I did some moderate cleanup and upgrade work on it, and it has a surprising amount of get-up-and-go especially in a 4000 lb truck. It's a hoot to drive. Seeing how well this slant does, I'm itchy to see how the new engine will do in the Valiant.

New slant was going in, just needed to finish the hookup work. Oh, maybe I should put a carb on there too?

That's what sold the 225 at least. Instant off idle torque. I love mine. I'm collecting truck specific slant parts right now and have no truck. Yet. lol

I thought the same thing. I guess it's where the steel brackets are located on the block, be it /6, SB or BB that makes the difference in which hole it goes into on the frame.. I think the rubber biscuits are pretty much the same for trucks. I've found it's easier to get both studs on the bottom of the biscuits to go into the frame hole if you leave one loose on the motor mount bracket so you can wiggle it a little to get it lined up.

That's a nice original truck. I wouldn't put a V8 in it. It's too nice, and it was your Dad's. You have the other cars to Hotrod! Just my opinion. You can also make it sound like a V8

You make a good point.

I stated pretty early that I didn't have "hotrod" in mind. There is a list of reasons, and power is on the list but certainly not first on the list

Find out what the recipe is for the Mexican 275 HP 318 and duplicate it.
