I got the firecore billet distributor locked out in mine. it's very easy to adjust or lock and has been holding the timing nice and steady

the 470 is a low deck stroker correct? in this case the 8546 mentioned above is not correct. You need the 8545. linked below.

I second the FireCore, my dad has one in his 440. You can use the Mallory gauges (or find the drill bit to degree chart) to set your static timing.

I locked the distributor, set motor to 36* btdc, indexed the rotor, dropped it in.....bam, started right up and ran like a champ
