some previous owner butchered my car bad and I want to fix it right. They did a complete replacement of the rear lower fender (inner and outer)on both sides but with staight sheet metal. There is no body line there at all but I know there is supposed to be one just under the marker light somewhere. If someone could measure straight down from the center of the gas filler down to either the body line below the marker light or to the very bottom of the fender or maybe both then I would know where to attach my new fender skin (if the skin came with the marker light hole I'd bet good ta go,,,,but) and I'll rebuild the inner to match that.

This doesn't directly answer your question but it sounds like it will save you A LOT of tedious work.

Why re-invent the wheel when you can buy a quarter panel skin and inner quarter panel extension with the correct curves/creases and sizes? Even if you don't use the entire new quarter skin, it's got the right profile regardless where you cut it to weld into your existing quarter panel.

from the center of the gas fill I have 2 5/16" to the first contour line. The second is 11 1/2" below center of gas fill. The rear marker light is 3 1/2" above that. I'm gonna tackle body work this winter...keep us posted on your progress.

I know in a perfect world thats a fine idea, but holy crap try and buy one that fits right. they all don't have the correct curves/creases and sizes I did buy the quarter that goes from the door to the bumper, then i sent them back cause they where junk, then the next set went back,, finally I had to keep the 3rd set cause I was lossing way too much time so I had to cut them apart and use only the areas that where bad. The front part I could use the body line on the door to line the body line on the fender up. But have no reference point on the rear part. However thx fer the heads up on the inner extension I forgot you can buy them .

thx for the help.

thx 72,,,with that second number I should be able to put on the outer skin and then build the inner to match it

JC Withney use to sell lower half panels. Got a pair for a 70
Duster I had. Good quality panels with all the right lines.
If they still sell them it would a good buy. Check them out
on line.

Me too jc whitney is a starting point they do not fit perfect but saves time bending fresh metal unless your a sheet metal worker with the benders. I only paid around 75.00 each and cut out what I needed they reach the marker light in height and covered the wheel opening for a guide line, I used 4 dr quarters on my 2 door because thats all I needed. good luck
