These pistons, anyone use or know anything about them? Is this a stroker motor piston? .999 pin, stock rod in a 440 block? curious if anyone has had experience with these.

Hi,

this piston is listed for 4.150" stroke...stock 440 is 3.750". So this Piston is for a stroker application in my opinion.

Yeah, it's a stroker piston, but the .990 pin isn't for stock rods(which are scrap) since you're going to need new rods, in a tall deck, go 7.100 BBC rods. Otherwise, Icon makes nice pistons, I have two sets and will be buying more in the near future. S/F....Ken M

If you are going to suggest a different rod length, don't you think it would be a good idea to suggest a different piston too? He didn't know it was for a stroker crank. How is he going to know that if he gets your suggested rod, uses the 4.15 stroke crank and the piston he asked about, that the top of the piston will be sticking out of the top of the block about .300"?

Yes, that is accurate, good call. 1/2 stroke + rod length+ compression height should = deck height. I assumed anyone building a stroker (or any engine really) should already know this. Yes, that sounds arrogant, I apologize, but it's easy to do math, it's tough to mill .300 off the piston to make it fit:eek: I guess I/we should know what parts he already has, since that's going to determine what he's going to need from there. If he has a 4.15 stroke crank, and 6.76x rods with .990 pin end, this is a good piston; IMO probably best value in forged pistons at present for Chrysler big blocks. S/F....Ken M

Thanks for not being overly sensitive. On another forum I said it was being lazy if you didn't time your camshaft. I thought I was going to have to get them some play dough, hot coco, a warm puppy and a safe room.

No worries. I spent 15yrs in the USMC and work in a machine shop, among other things. I don't understand these weak crybabies either.

Icon doesn't seem to make a shelf piston that would work in a RB with 4.15 stroke and 7.100 rod, which would require something around a 1.55 compression height. Most 4.15 cranks seem to be 2.375 rod journal too, which kinda sucks, and rules out a 7.100 rod unless ground down. S/F....Ken M

I need a 4.360 piston and rings. Will call 440 source I was told ICON makes there pistons I have had good luck with there stoker kit. But I need a good machine shop in NJ

Does it have to be 4.150 stroke? 4.250 kits and components are more common!
