Ideas on a school project

Im going to do some career apps. classes at a grade school, junior high, an high school on 3 differnt days. I have done this before but not in the classroom as a teacher.
I need more ideas about drag racing an what you can learn from it. All ideas are welcome!

I dont really know what you are asking? But if its about racing and making a good living, If you are(or the kids in school) are into cars. Being a machanic is a good career, If people are driving cars there will always be a job fixing them. There is a ton of $$$ doing legit repairs and not screwing people. I do fleet repair for AT&T and also do side work at home. I worked at a dealer for 8 years then went to the phone co. and I still do work on the side after AT&T to fund my racing habit. Basicly if someone wants to do the auto machanic/racing gig the sky is the limit. John Force was a truck driver before he was a drag racing household name.(not knocken truck drivers)

Shawn, you could definitely teach them how to overcome the gravitational pull of the earth for short periods of time by just showing them the skyshots of your car leaving the line.

Shawn, start teaching them Distance = Rate x Time so if they're covering the 1/4 mile and know the distance is 1320 feet then they can figure out things like how fast they have to go to get there in 10 seconds etc. Easy Formula minipulations (R=D/T), would have to go 132 mph to go 1/4 mile in 10 seconds flat. Then you could really get them thinking about rate of change and since its not a constant 132 mph and that is the average they would need to factor in all the variables that would affect the overall average such as head wind or tail wind, tire friction, etc. and since they can't really control those variables they can control weight which is always being shaved wherever possible! I dunno, just my 2 cents.

shawn,make sure they know that cold gas is faster then the norm 70 to 90 deg.29 hundred lb car 1/8 mile 2barl 318 ran 12 sec,chill gas down to 40 deges.made this car run 11s.ITS THE LITTLE THINGS THAT make a diffrens.
