My dad has this Holley carb and we would like to know what type it is, cfm's, and what all the gizmos are that are attach to it. It looks like it was rebuilt at one point because of the wire straps that would keep a person from opening it and tampering around. The #'s at the top of the carb is:

685981
LIST-6292-1
0771

Thanks, Charles

I have never seen that configuration on the passenger side of the carb. The drivers is strange as well, otherwise, it looks like a typical 1850.

1850 = 600 cfm 4160 style, which is metering plate in the rear, metering block up front, cross over fuel tube.

Try Holley.com yet?

NOT a performance carb. Pretty sure it is a "governed" carb off a heavy truck. Saw something similar on a 366 cid Chevy big block in a school bus.

If it helps any, it was on a '68 Pontiac 400 engine that was rebuilt but sat that he sold awhile ago.

LIST 6292 Carburetor is for a 1972 Chevy & GM truck, 366 cubic inch engine, according to the Holley Illustrated Parts and Specifications Manual.

The carb as listed in the carb rebuild book is a 1970-73 427 GM truck with govenor,4150 series .MMT
Good for spare parts,as most of it will be tossedaway for any street use,MMT

Open door, place carb on floor by door. Door will stay open through mild to moderate wind. Best use for it.

used to see those holley carbs in wrecking yards all the time.i usually do the holley junkyard search every month or so,used to find a little of everything ,found a brand new 600 double pumper under a toyota rear seat bought it for twentyfive bucks.now mostly you only find some kind of 1850 600.but i still strip em! keep the parts... have so many sets of small jets its funny. holley carbs are fun, easy to dial in and reliable.i have an old 4779 with a proform center and it works good but i still need to jet it and play with acc. pump shooters but it runs good as is.....oh yeah heavy truck carb door stop
