I have a set of pistons that I believe to be for a standard bore 340. Is there a way to verify this? Any marking I should look for.

Thanks in advance.

The diameter will be 4.04" and the piston compression height will be 1.84"

Thanks for the dimensions, I'm not sure I have anything handy that would be that accurate for a measurement. I guess I probably should though. Time for a new tool!

Is there another way to identify pistons before I get a chance to go shopping?

There is no standard markings on pistons you are going to have to measure them. A 6" caliper from a place like Harbor Freight or Northern Tool will get the job done for short change. I wouldn't trust one of these for important measurements though.
