I am changing the key switch out in my steering column.
How do you install the tumbler itself.
I don't know if I have a defective switch because the part because the new tumbler will not fit in the hole. The problem is the piece that I am pointing the screwdriver at.
Also what is the switch with the two red wires that the piece appears to push on.
Thanks.

You have to rotate the new lock cylinder in it's own housing while moving that actuator tang. That should free the tang up to slide the new assembly back in to the column. As for the wires, those are for the keys in the ignition buzzer.

Thanks,
I have twisted and pushed the tumbler in every direction and it will no go down enough to let it slide in the column.
I guess maybe the tumbler its self is defective.
I may just take a cut off wheel to the tab.

I just ended up trimming it down so it would go in, it still has enough movement to contact the ignition buzzer switch.
I would have sent it back but I bought them 2 or 3 years ago with matching door key locks that I already installed.
