Important Information About Energy Saving Light Blubs

-
I didnt know these bulbs contain mercury... Im considering changing back to the old bulbs and using a lower watt!

As usual these morons (politicians) never put things into context. All flouresent bulbs and tubes contain mercury, and always have, but the amount of mercury is "1" yes folks "1" TINY drop. Politicians north and south of the border need to get their heads out of their *** but seldom do and instead love to take the opportunity to try to scare the public and blow things out of proportion. Next thing they'll be saying is the mercury is supplied by a company with ties to the Taliban.
I've allready changed half my house over to flouresents.

I started changing all the bulbs in my house over to CFLs about a year go and love them. They're brighter than the regular bulbs and I haven't had to change a single one. The only thing my wife complains about is it takes a few seconds for them to come to full brightness if they haven't been on for a while.

Ok, so the guy may be doing a little picking and choosing. But who wants the government MANDATING what light bulbs you can buy? And (if its really true) buying them all from CHINA. Whats next? They gonna decide Cheryl Crow is right and we should only use ONE SQUARE?

FORK them and the horse they rode in on:angryfir::angry5::cussing::finga::finga::finga:

The Congressman shown isn't a tree hugger....far from it.....He doesn't want Congress ruling on these kinds of things........The mercury contention is to demonstrate that the pollution comes from broken bulbs, and the ridiculous nature of handling them vs. incandescents.

I'm all for saving energy, and my house was converted to these cfl's long ago.....made a real difference on the energy bills.......relatively speaking, that is......the cost of my energy went up faster than the cfl's could save anything for me. Great information on all counts though...great charts.

....But please don't call a civil libertarian (relative to his political philosophy, that is) a "tree hugger"....... I think you have him confused with "Madame Speaker". :read2:

I found that they need a break in then they don't take as long to come on. Leave then on for 12-16 hours the first time you turn it on and they seam to work better.

The only problem I see with them is that they're all made in China.

I think there was a story in Mopar Collector's Guide a few months ago about CFL lightbulbs.
