When I got my car initially it had a workable paint job, but you could see where they painted over dirt, and just did a crappy prep job in some areas.

I decided to get that resolved this year- the shop is doing some stripping, primer and paint to resolve the defect under the gas cap. As you can see they didn’t even remove the side molding, so the assumption is that a gas overfill found a cracked part of the paint and compromised it.

I’m also getting the CORRECT bumble bee stripe. Once I get the car back I am thinking of having a vinyl shop match the top and side stripe and do the under bumper panel like the prototype Dart pictures showed.

The only surprise so far was having to rush order a set of molding clips and a new DART trunk badge - they both were hiding damage.

After removing the windshield they found minimal (surface) rust which was easily cleaned up for the new seal and glass. Should be all set for the upcoming season!

Oh the other fun news, my GY8 gold poly is a lot closer to the ditzler paint chip book than I originally thought. So she’s not a mutant wearing an off color coat.

Looks like they are getting on with it! Are you removing the side molding all the way around?
It’s going back on - I’d love to find replacements in better shape but for now it’ll be what I have.

It helps the sleeper look I’m going for (along with the column shifter and bench seats.)

I still can’t believe that “The Last Guy” just masked and painted around the molding, and that was the source of my troubles.

Stopped by today with some new molding clips, and my body guy was mixing paint samples to spray some test cards.

Tomorrow the Dart badge should arrive, hopefully next this week is the trim standoff mounts ( the DART on the ds front fender is half loose)

He got the doors adjusted and they close better than new.

Windshield should be going in tomorrow- check out that lovely metal!!!

For a touch up project it’s not cheap, but it’s resolving what I consider to be a glaring issue. I’m very impressed.
