increase in posts about putting non-Mopar parts in A-Bodies

A few things bother me, a few things don't...I think the biggest NO NO is a Ford or Chevy engine in a Mopar. The great 9 inch and 8 3/4 debate...Well, I would rather have an 8 3/4 any day. You can get them pretty much anywhere...But if you must, and if you can get it super cheap, get the 9 inch...Ford or Chevy trannies doesn't bother me much. If you need an overdrive tranny from another make, sure use one...Now the Chevy brake parts I think are fine, make your Mopar stop better! However, I truly believe that the Mopar suspension systems are so much more better than a Chevy or Ford will ever be , and I CANNOT get that through my brother and his friends thick retarded skulls...(They are Chevy fans). But for the most part, as long as you keep the main things Mopar, it's fine with me...I'm using a GM alternator to clean up all the wires and get rid of that funky looking external voltage regulator...

FWIW, a cowl induction scoop is a timeless design and looks great on an F-body.

that looks good on that body style

Hence the reason I'll be running a cowl on the M-body, too. The Mopar scoops don't look good on that hood, and with a little shaping and molding I can turn the factory raised center hood line into a scoop. Form and function, using the hood that's on it.

Thanks guys, yep with all the funky lines on the F and M hoods the cowl induction scoop just begs to be on there. Not to mention cowl hoods suck the cold air from the base of the window, the traditional forward facing scoops are right in the path of the turbulent air and are not as effective.

Yep my Aspen aint for Tom, but thats ok it's built for ME!!! (seems like people do love it though when they see it in person and all the important things ares still Mopar)

if memory serves me right, the Dana 60 was not a Mopar exclusive.....it was used under the front of certain Fords and under the rear of certain Chevys, so is it "really" a Mopar part???
I got my Dana 60 out of a 1 ton Ford pu

I am just waiting for a moderator to make this thread STICKY.

LOL! And I don't have to deal with THIS anymore!

BTW: See the recent issue of Hot Rod with the Terracuda on the cover? You know the car.... that pretty `Cuda built by Mr. Foose? The one with the Corvette brakes and the 9" rear? See that?

Guys: calm down. You care that strongly about mis-matched parts don't go to a street rod show where 90% of the cars have small block Chevy's.... or a drag race where all the fuel car's run a Chrysler designed engine. Even in Fords....

See how silly this topic has become? :-D

John, the Foose Cuda is awesome. If I was paying to have it built the brown wouldn't have been my first choice but the overall look and stance is killer.

I don't see what the big deal is! I had Ford seats in my Duster because they fit well. I also put a Ford 9 inch and Dodge Daytona seats in my Camaro! Who cares? If it works, and the price is right I USE it.

Aspen. Sorry for the goof. I am not into anything made past 1968 really so FORGIVE me...

As far as the main premise of the thread is concerned, let me clarify since there are now alot of dudes piling on with descriptions of their Big 3 Frankenstein cars.

Classic speed parts = good (i.e. weiland, edelbrock, cragar, american racing etc.)

Modern improvements upon stock parts = good (i.e. Alterkation, SSBC or Wilwood disc brakes, etc.)

Ford or Chevy parts = bad

this should not be a fringe point of view on a Mopar forum.

Just to ruin your thought process and play the devil's advocate....
You say that modern improvements upon stock parts=good.
Well of the list you provided, doesn't Alterkation use Mustang II spindles and I am pretty sure the rear calipers on the SSBC disc setups are Thunderbird....

Just saying......
