I'm leading up a Nor Cal (SF Bay area) team that has just picked up a 1972 Plymouth Valiant Scamp with a slant 6 auto. We are going to run this car in the 24 hours of Lemons races and maybe Chump Car races here on the west coast in 2012. That means it doesn't have to be pretty - just cheap, do-able and reliable.

We have been doing some research and have ideas about what we want need for the first race. Obviously we are on a budget (car+ GFP less than $500) for parts that help make the car faster (go fast parts or GFP), so that means junk yard parts and home built welded stuff

But we are looking for more information if you would like to share and parts.

Wanted: the 1973-later electronic distributor.
2 BBl Carb, and manifold or where we can find this for the 225 (dodge vans from 1979-???). We might make a 2BBL adapter and weld it onto our 1BBl manifold if a 2BBL manifold is too expensive.
Home built header info? the 2 x 3-1 ??
other 225 GFP

Baffled oil pan? We did this on our HondAcura after we killed about 5 engines. So we will probably do this. Pictures or info would be helpful.

Transmission: Stay with the 904 trans or shop for a 727-RG?
should we get a race shift kit (manual shifted) for the 904 trans? or get something like the Transgo 2 kit?
The car had AC, which is gone, but the condenser coil is still mounted up front, so we'll plumb that in as a trans cooler, as soon as we figure out where to tap into the 904 transmission.

We are going to do the 11.75" front disk swap, assuming we can find the parts in the JY.

We are looking for really stiff front torsion rods (bars). I have a line on some from an e-body w/ 383, but obviously then we'd have to move the rear mounts. Not impossible, but harder. Or any ideas about scabbing in a coil spring into the front suspension in addition to the torsion rod??

Stiff light rear springs from another car that are the same length and will swap in?? we can flip a leaf to flatten the pack and get the ride height ~~ correct. Or again a coil spring scabbed in to stiffen up the rear?

F/R sway bars

16x7 or 16x8 wheels. We can run any tire with a tread wear rating higher than 190. So we usually run Falken Azenia 615s or the new good tire is Dunlop Direzza, but they are very limited in the 15" size, so we'll probably end up with a 16". Anybody running these, can you tell us the back spacing? or donor cars (1990 fords?)

We will also be selling off most of the interior parts in Dec/Jan. and stock wheels and hub caps and ?????

Thanks In Advance!! -Dan
