Picked up a 75 Sport and the interior was completely disassembled. I need help in putting the dash all back together. All parts are supposed to be here to put back together, but where to start? The windshield is out of the car presently. Is there a step by step list of instructions available in a manual or restoration guide? Has a member here posted their detailed installation instructions? If so, would you care to share info?

Thanks

Gary

do you have any pics? is the dash frame in the car? do you have the wiring harness, heater core/ heater box? i have my dash completely apart minus the wiring , and there just isnt a whole lot to it. is the brake pedal in the car? do you have the firewall insulation? dash pad? how much is there and how much of it do you have?

The dash frame was removed to have powder coated , the heater core/box is still in place. The brake pedal is still in car, but steering wheel is disconnected from the steering box and column is resting on the drivers seat.

Basically, I need to install the cluster, radio, heater controls and hook all up. Can all the electrical and mechanical connections be made prior to putting the dash frame in place?

May seem easy to some, but to me it is a nightmare.

Thanks Gary

I would think that the factory would have pre-assembled the cluster, radio, heater controls and wiring harness to the metal dash prior to installing it in the car.

My dash is completely removed and dis-assembled from my 65 GT 'vert. I will completely assemble everything to the dash frame on the work bench then install in the car. Seems like the easiest course of action to me.

More than likely not, put the dash together and install as a unit, with the exception of the cluster, then make your connections. Get your cluster by the opening and make those connections and put it in place, then hook up the column.

I suppose it could be done, but would would be on your back connecting all of it from underneath. If you do this take the front seat/seats out so you can lay on the floor, much easier to deal with then laying on the seat.

The problem with most of it is the length of the connections. It would be difficult to connect everything and then install.

first thing is to get the frame back in the car, now would be a good time to install the dash pad and the defroster vents and front speaker if it has one. make sure your vent boxes on the left and the right are sealed to the cowl. nows the time to get your wiper arms and seals in place as well. every thing is easy to get to. you are going to want to wait until the frame is in the car before you start the wiring (at least i do). the steering column mount to dash will want to be tightened up next. dont forget the firewall insulation. after that , then you can start the wiring from the bulkhead. the wiring runs out of the bulkhead , above the steering column and around to the left where the fusebox mounts. the gauge cluster, heater cables, radio, and glove box liner/and door are all going to be last along with the column. im sure i missed a few things like the E brake and defroster vent tubes, those are going to be close to last as well.

anyone else please chime in, ive only done this a couple times on an A body.
