Installing a Edelbrock Performer Intake Need Help

I am installing an Edelbrock Performer Intake on My 72 Dart that has a stock 318. I put on intake and on both sides in the middle the upside u shaped ports are partially visible. Edelbrock tech said this is ok , that these port are not used and actually are dead ended. Is this correct? Any info will help.

heat cross over for intake manifold...yes..part of the U will be uncovered..

some of the intake gaskets will cover the complete heat crossover..some will not
