Well I got a stainless carpet protector on Craigslist from a parts car. Now to install it I allredy installed the new carpet can I just remove the gas pedal and pull the carpet out enough to install it. I know that I should mark the location first and maybe cut the holes for the prongs. Has anybody done this I want to ask before I attempt this.

the rug protector goes under the carpet? and does what? what does it protect the carpet from?

nice seats!

It is a stainless steel scuff plate that goes on the out side of the carpet next to the gas pedal to protect the carpet in the early 64-66 a-body. In mine (64) the tangs are pushed through the carpet and on the back side are brass washers with slots (not holes) that the tangs go through and then bend over.

Does the tabs push through the carpet or do you have to cut slots in the carpet to get the tabs through? thanks

I still have the factory carpet and the tangs just push through. But the carpet may not be as tight a weave as todays carpets. Try it out and see how it goes.

OK thanks for your help Im going to install it in a couple weeks when I get the car back out of the storage building and into the garage.
