Installing new adjusting screws and lock nuts in 273 rockers

Hoping someone chimes in with experience on how they did this. I know they should not screw in and out easily but. Mancini Racing said I need to go through my rockers with a fine tap. Is this what you did to get them in? I have already broken one allen wrench trying to install the first one I tried. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
If I remember right.......

273 rocker screws have a tapered thread?

The 340-6 and Hemi do not, and these two used lock nuts while the 273 did not.
 
Factory 273s used an interference fit for the adjusting screws.
When installing aftermarket screws and locknuts, the threads need to be retapped and the rockers faced for the locknuts to seat on, since the nuts will now be performing the "locking" duties instead of the adjuster threads.
 
On the rockers that don’t use friction lock adjusters, the adjusters thread in and out easily.
