I had a little fight with the car trying to install the passenger side quarter glass. I can get the front bolt installed but the back one is problematic. There could be other issues as I have had all the guts out and bought used glass (again I assumed the quarter windows are all interchangeable although I didn't compare it to the old one exactly). Perhaps it can't be done with the guts assembled? If I have interpreted it correctly (key word is interpret) the manual wants me to remove the frame, install the glass and reassemble. It seems getting those clips on and off the rollers might be a challenge. What has everyone else done?

No thoughts on this?
I wish someone had some "thoughts on this" because I can't figure out a way to install the glass panes after I've installed the frame, tracks, etc. Essentially, I have everything inside the shell, and it LOOKS like it would be easy to install the glass. The frame and the holes for the bolts are RIGHT THERE!!! But, alas, I don't see any way.

I did get the quarter glass installed. Basically you drop the glass in and move it into place. I believe I had one arm reaching through one of the holes in the interior. The rear bolt can be inserted with the glass in the upper position and the front bolt with the glass in the lower position if I remember correctly.

I figured that out about the front bolt being installed with the frame cranked all the way to the bottom. It's the rear bolt that is killing me. I removed the upstop tab in order to get the frame to come up as high as possible, but when I crank it up all the way, the window pane hits the top of the body aperture before it slides into the frame and lines up the bolt holes. There is no rubber installed yet either, so that would make it even worse. I might try removing the rear guide from inside the cavity and see if that will afford me little wiggle room in there. As I recall, that guide was fairly easy to install after the rest of the frame and roller mechanism was installed.

At this point, I'm just frustrated and bitchy about the whole thing. I will have to go do something else and come back to it later. There is a way; I just haven't hit upon it yet!

Perhaps its out of adjustment now so you can't get it high enough. The 3 regulator bolts should adjust tilt/parallelism.

I seriously just got that!!! I loosened the regulator bolts and moved it far enough to eliminate the interference with the glass. Then I tightened the three bolts and adjusted the down stop. So, now the glass is installed and it rolls up and down. Adjustments for another day!

Thanks for your help.

I wish I knew how I came to this point, but sometimes you just fiddle with it enough and try a different approach. For who knows what reason, it works! Blind hog found an acorn. I loosened the 3 bolts that hold the regulator in place and rotated the mounting slightly in the slotted holes. That reoriented the frame and glass just the right amount to make it fit perfectly.

Following. Trying to install back quarter glass on my 68 barracuda notch passenger side, I'm stuck! Need pics of all pieces put together outside of car so I know I'm putting it together right.

Are you reinstalling the regulator? I used the manual (available online I don't have the link) , some posts here (there is a photo of a quarter panel cutaway) and a video on YT . He was working on a B body but its similar.

I'll also post a bunch of related photos that I took while I had my parts out on the bench. They are in no particular order, but sometimes just getting an image will make that little light in your brain go "Bling".

Maybe these will help some. I'll be happy to discuss details with you while its still somewhat fresh on my mind. Two days from now....it may be gone forever.

1MeanA, Yes reinstalling after complete teardown of car. It's been 7 years since I pulled them out, I got pictures of where bolts are with regulator in, but not sure of process to get them back in.
out of whole build these back quarter glass, regulators and rollers I've been dreading the most. I remember pulling them and it was a fight.
Now car is painted and I have to be gentle, Not my strong suite!
Thanks for the info

There are many ways to install the regulator but only one way works:) the video shows how to install it. Make sure all the rollers are in the tracks before installing the glass.

I had lots of trouble putting mine in. Until I followed the instructions of the link I posted. It’s tight, scratches your arms. You kinda gotta slide the wheels down the channel. I think the window and regulator go in, slide the rear wheel in the fixed one thats a pita. I don't remember the forward vertical track slides in after or if you push them all the way to the inner door structure. I would put several layers of tape on the paint so you don’t gouge it

A couple of tips, just from my own recent experience.

This might seem obvious, but don't install the glass pane onto the frame until all the rest of the assembly is inside and bolted into place.

The most frustrating part for me was that every time I'd get one roller/slide into place, another one would pop out. I finally figured out that if I totally removed that rear channel (it has a slight curve to it and bolts through from the inside of the car; also has adjustment nuts on both mounting bolts) it makes it much easier. It opens up more room to work, and it's one less thing to pop out while you're working with other stuff. After everything else is in place, it's a simple matter to go in through the hole in the body panel and install it. You'll be able to insert the rear roller into that channel, slide it up into position and insert the mounting bolts into the body panel. The day I figured that out was a triumphant day!

The long curved channel gets inserted from the top of the opening after the rest of the assembly is installed. You'll thread it through the top (stationary) roller first and continue to shove it down until you reach the bottom roller. You might need to reach through the hole in the body panel to position that lower roller to receive the channel.
