While bidding on a dash panel I unintentionally came into contact with this gentleman. He introduced himself and offered advice/information on restoring Mopar dash panels. We have been conversing back & forth and he forwarded me one of his flyers with some info and pictures of his work. As many of you know, I hacked out my own dast resto, but if you want it done right, maybe give John a buzz...

The instrument panel below is from my own 1971 Duster 340 bought in the Philippine Islands, Subic Bay, through the Chrysler Military Sales Corporation when I was there on R & R from Vietnam. The car was never there, just paid for and shipped from Hamtramck, MI to a Car Dealer close to home. Vets saved over 30% buying there. It is now restored to Original Class One show car condition.
On this Rallye panel and all others serviced depending on customer needs all the Gauges and the Speedometer are calibrated, everything is taken apart, examined and repaired if necessary. Then cleaned, calibrated, detailed and put back together. Ask other Panel Restorers if they Calibrate every Instrument or just see if the needles move.... Your restoration is achieved with care, not the factory get it done & out the door production habits. The condition the instrument panel is in and what service is needed determines how long this process takes and expenses. Turnaround time is normally 1 to 2 months but I always work with folks on time and price. Consulting as always is free!!
In most Panels a new Tachometer can be installed in the Original Delete Area from behind and viewed through the same Lens like the original OEM option Tachometer. A Tach can also be installed into the Brown Face A-Body Rectangle panel. Please ask!
For certitude I'm a 56 year old recently retired Aerospace Avionics Engineer being employed with Bendix Avionics - AlliedSignal & Honeywell Aerospace over 25 years doing Engineering, Sales & Marketing, and Global Exhibition Support & Logistics.
Several businesses offer a similar service. One well known charges over $500.00 just to service your Speedometer and Gauges only. This also means you disassemble everything and send them your Speedometer and Gauges. Then when returned you reassemble everything. Also this $500 does not include any Tachometer Service, that is all extra. This is a One-Man Operation with no overhead. You save 40% to 50% or more and I do everything for you!
Your thoughts are always appreciated.
All the Best!
