Intake baffle

-
With folks taking the plates off the bottom of cast iron intakes for sand blasting or whatever reason.... this wouldn't require one as far as needing to keep oil from scorching the plenum's......IMOP....and keep lifters where they need to be.... hopefully...LOL
now i thought the plate under an iron inlet was to keep the exhaust crossover heat from burning the oil in the valley? when i've taken them off there's a build up of carbon (burnt oil) under neath.
neil.

I'm sure there is truth to that.....but I usually block the heat crossover in my neck of woods anyways. If I run manifolds, I look for some without the flap.

Saying all that and back to the baffle.....being over the cam tunnel holes it would be blocking the oil splash from the cam from getting up there....right?

Right! The shield is stopping the oil from splashing up and hitting the intake.
