Well, I got my carb pads from the machinist last night. After looking at them a while, I decided to just get them welded right to the intake to make things as sturdy and foolproof as possible. I dropped it off at the welder about an hour ago, and he said I should be able to pick it up Wednesday...then the assembly will begin :snakeman:

T-Minus two days, and it'll be done. And yes, it is aluminum. It's an Offy 5041 formerly modified by Pro-Line. I didn't want to spend over $1000 for a pair of carbs, so I got a pair of NEW electric choke progressive 2bbls intended for a 1.8L escort for $150(for the pair, shipped). Pictures will be up Wednesday, and Assembly pics Thursday. Anyone here have any tips for flaring/bending fuel lines?

Worthless without pics you say?!?!

Here it is...tell me that ain't sexy!

Tip on bending fuel line, OK, at the risk of sounding stupid, take your time and try not to kink it. Theres the little hand held benders that work fine.
If you can use stainless steel, that would probably hold a shape better than regular line.

Theres also braided line..........

Pretty cool man! =P~=P~=P~ Just a question, but I would have rotated the carbs 90 degrees. Any particular reason why you did it your way?

BTW, nice work! You do realize that you will have to send that to Cudachick so she she powercoat that for you, right? lol!

The way it's set up, each bank of 3 cylinders has its own progressive 2bbl. The primaries go outboard to maximize the speed going past the secondary barrels for better atomization. The theory is sound, anyway...

Ah! That's right, these carbs plates don't open all at the same time. I was thinking trying to keep the throttle bores equidistant from the runners to maximize any tuning effect and to keep the mixture from the two bores from having to "bump into itself" and preventing droplet fallout.

All in all, I think it's a pretty good intake for $120(machining/welding) + a used intake. I did almost freak out when I put the studs I had in and the carbs wouldn't go on. But, then after a bit of looking, I realized the studs were bent, so all was cool again. Oh, and I've got a tubing bender somewhere around the office, as well as cutting/flaring tools. Should be able to get this rigged up in time for my trip home this weekend.

Well, looks like I'm not getting home this weekend afterall. This morning on my way to work, my transmission in my pickup quit shifting. I have a feeling this won't get resolved in time for my to leave Friday morning.

Tooooooo cool!!! Congrats on the results Pharmboy.

Bummer about the truck though. Hope it's something simple.

OOOHHHHH any info on the carbs? I thought about running a "newer" ford 2bbl instead of a stock carb on the super six intake.

The carbs are from an 80-something 1.8L Ford Escort...and my truck...well, seems that somehow it experienced what's called a 'catastrophic failure'. It's gonna take a a rebuilt transmission(around $1800 or so) to get me back on the road, which I certainly hope happens tomorrow afternoon at the latest. Because the idea of being stuck in my hotel AND sober for the whole weekend seems really depressing.

Well the being sober part won't cost much to fix. :drinkers:

Carb looks cool. Hope it runs great for ya

Well, my truck's tranny gets done tomorrow morning, just gotta grab a cab from the hotel to pick it up, pay a small fortune, then on to other things. Gonna grab 8 new studs for the carbs, a roll of gasket material, a couple 12" fuel line kits, and start putting stuff together.

Well, got my truck back, got out all the carbs and other goodies and started sticking tab A into slot B...and it looks like this isn't gonna be a lite project, because it's got twice the carbs...oh yeah:cheers:...next job...plumbing

The linkage actually came as a kit from Langdon's Stovebolt...very nice people to deal with, and very knowlegeable. I talk to the owner when I was trying to get my linkage needs sorted out, and he had a single package that covers pretty much any dual Holley-Weber setup.
