Well, most that buy these types of cars hardly consider crash ratings. Very few of us consider it either, that's why we cruise our classics without air bags, etc etc.....
Want to be safe in a crash? Buy a quad cab 4x4 Diesel truck with air bags. That should knock the corolla's/Prius's/Civic's into the next millennial.

I call all those compact cars coffin on wheels I'd rather pay more in gas and live.
I've driven for a living for about 25 years and been in almost as many accidents not all ways as the driver and all but one haven't been my fault. Never been seriously injured or injured at all so far.
