I bought a 1950 L150 a 1 1/2 ton. It has the silver diamond 220 in it. Parts are hard to find for overhauling . Does anyone know or know anyone that has put a V8 in one. I'm thinking 340 or 360.
Egge Machine might have overhaul parts for that 220.I bought a 1950 L150 a 1 1/2 ton. It has the silver diamond 220 in it. Parts are hard to find for overhauling . Does anyone know or know anyone that has put a V8 in one. I'm thinking 340 or 360.View attachment 1715272751
I'll look at them also. I thought they had closed.toolmanmike said:Egge Machine might have overhaul parts for that 220.
Honestly don't know what I want to do.If you're going to keep it as a big truck put a DT360 or a 12v Cummins in it. Gas engine suck it big trucks.
EBay has a DT360 for about $2100.If you're going to keep it as a big truck put a DT360 or a 12v Cummins in it. Gas engine suck it big trucks.
drop a 400 or a 440 in there, or the 5 something busty mentionedHonestly don't know what I want to do.
I got the truck for a$100. Not really out anything. Has some rust issues , sat for about thirty years on a farm on the wet side of Wa State. I was always partial to the Binders. I would like to see it going. Its diffenitly not going to be a worker, it did that for along time, time for a rest. I guess looking for an easy fix.
I'd aim for a simple swap. 304/345/392 ain't exactly cheap motors to build/repair.. Ask me how I know!I've been reading up on the loadstar. I'll look into that . I need to get away from the SD 220 ,parts are hard to come buy and very expensive when you find them. I'd like to upgrade at least into the mid 60's. I've even thought a 304 ,345 or 392.
The problem with just buying an engine will be all the other stuff needed to do the swap. It would probably be cheaper and easier in the long run to buy a whole truck and just swap cabs. Something like an old school bus or an old U haul truck would fit the bill, you'll get more modern brakes and axles under it.EBay has a DT360 for about $2100.
Not bad I thought they would be more.
I'm a member. Lots of stuff on there. I don't know if old 220 turns or not haven't got that far. If it does may pull it and have it cleaned upfor IH parts, and info
